🎥 Honest answer

Is a “Santa caught on camera” video real?

Quick answer

No. Santa caught on camera videos are made, not recorded: with apps, video effects, AI, or someone in a costume. A HoHo Cam! video is made with AI video and voice tools from one photo of your room, styled to look like night-vision security footage, and every video carries a small “AI” label. It's a Christmas keepsake for your family's story, like cookie crumbs by the fireplace, not real camera footage.

How HoHo Cam! videos are made

  1. You send one photo of your room (no people in it) and your child's first name.
  2. AI video tools animate Santa in your room, starting from your photo. An AI voice says your child's name in English or Spanish.
  3. We add the security-camera look: night-vision grain, a camera label and a Christmas Eve timestamp, plus a name card and a small “AI” label.
  4. Every video is checked before delivery, and arrives within 48 hours by email.

Will my child be able to tell it's AI?

Young children usually take it as part of the story. Older kids who know about AI videos may be more skeptical, which is one reason HoHo Cam! is made for believers about 3 to 9. If your child spots the “AI” label, that's a good moment to follow their lead: see how to keep the Santa magic alive.

Does it use my real security camera?

No. HoHo Cam! never connects to any camera, app or account in your home. We're not affiliated with any camera brand.

A safety note on real home cameras

In December 2019, BBC News and NBC News reported cases where strangers got into families' indoor cameras and spoke to children, one claiming to be Santa. Those families said two-factor authentication hadn't been set up. If you have indoor cameras, use a strong unique password and turn on two-factor authentication, and think twice about cameras in children's bedrooms.

Is it OK to share the video?

It's your family's video. It shows the inside of your home and your child's first name, so many parents share it only in a private family chat. See photo privacy.
